WHO ARE WE
The Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Association (APIDAA) is a club at Occidental College for all students who identify as Asian and allies to come together to build a united community, learn from each other, and celebrate our diversity!

What Does APIDAA mean to you?
QUOTES FROM OUR E-BOARD

"I would really like to be a part of and shape a community that feels comfortable and fosters a sense of belonging with one another. With that in mind, I would like to see different facets of Asian Pacific Islander Desi Americans and create a space that recognizes the intersectionality of many of the community members."
ANISSA BASNAYAKE

"I hope to impact people by helping to create a safe space for all APIDA identifying humans on campus who join the club. I definitely think this club is something this campus desperately needs, and I would love to be a part of building that space for people. I hope I learn more about the students on our campus and about various cultures."
MIARI COSTARELLI

"I am passionate about highlighting and uplifting the experience of all Asian students on campus. The Asian diaspora is vast and intricately complex and I believe in making changes on campus - especially since Oxy is a PWI - to emphasize that oversimplification of APIDAA students is not possible"
CAITLIN JOY CABANILLA

I'm interested in joining APIDAA to help create a community for others who may be in a similar position. I would love the chance to help create a safe space and plan events that bring people together.
